WP Rawl is a grower, processor, and distributor of over 15 different varieties of fresh vegetables harvested year round and more than 50 different packaged value-added products. We are currently in search of a Food Safety & Quality Control Program Manager supporting our corporate programs across locations in Pelion, SC, Bunnell, FL, and Indianola, MS. 

The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Program Manager is primarily responsible for monitoring and supporting the food safety and quality control programs across all growing and production facilities. This position provides a great opportunity to gain exposure to a key function at WP Rawl and grow within our organization. 

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Responsible for working with supervisors and team members to assure the quality and food safety program goals and objectives are being accomplished. Responsibilities would cover inbound produce as well as the products being delivered to WP Rawl customers.
  • Serve as a highly motivated leader and quick thinker that possess the ability to interact with a host of different personalities.
  • Lead and coordinate all internal, customer, and third-party audit preparations and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and identify gaps in food safety and quality control processes or team member skillsets and recommend plans for closing the gaps.
  • Handle all Federal Inspections as well as product discrepancy notices including taking photos.
  • Perform daily evaluation of all produce inventories for quality, proper rotation and inventory levels and recommend system improvements as needed.
  • Inspect daily inbound deliveries for quality, inspect products in the pick slots and document condition and take appropriate action with suppliers or carriers.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns with Purchasing in a timely manner. • Highly organized, detail orientated and capable of multi-tasking.
  • Assist with incoming calls and emails.
  • Work on special projects for the QA Department.
  • Communicate QA protocols to auditors and auditees.
  • Work with QA data software systems.
  • All other duties as assigned. 
Requirements: 
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Able to successfully work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel to each location. Total travel time may be up to 25% of the time.
  • Ability to facilitate implementation of corporate food safety and quality control systems in a positive and proactive manner.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures ranging from -20F to 100F
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs
  • Excellent multitasking abilities and stress tolerance 
  • An undergraduate degree in food science, biology, microbiology (highly preferred), or associated discipline.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Ability to speak, write, or read Spanish a plus.
  • Laboratory and supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing methods, procedures and protocols
