Fresh Select LLC is a leading packer of fresh fruit in Central California.  The Company specializes in, tree fruit, pomegranates, and citrus.  This product mix allows the facility to operate on a year round basis.

The company is looking for a Food Safety Manager to join their team to help maintain an effective Food Safety Program; Primus Food Safety Audit Superior score.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Keeps up to date on state/federal requirements (FDA, USDA, CDHS, NOP, etc.) and pest control measures.
  • Completes and files all required reports and documentation.
  • Perform test on product samples as needed.
  • Manage company’s GMP
  • Arranges and participates in packinghouse audits with both buyers and third parties auditors.
  • Audits various Food Safety program elements for effectiveness, identifies issues and develops corrective action plans.
  • Educate facility in and assess all types of risk including package, utility, ingredient and process
  • Schedules and performs all food safety tests and inspections and approve payment. Maintain Trace Back and Recall systems. Develop and lead audit process.
  • Investigates all Food Safety related customer commodity rejections; recommends and/or coordinates corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HAACP).
  • Oversees the Packline Sanitation department (day and night crews). Permit procurement as necessary, such as but not limited to, any Pesticide Permits, Pest Control Permits
  • Oversee utilization and effectiveness of established food safety systems and drive continuous improvement of systems.
  • Design food safety processes for risk assessment that meet globally recognized standards. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:\

  • Accurately complete detailed forms and reports.
  • Interpret complex laws, regulations, and/or policies.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be willing to work any schedule (weekends and OT may be required).
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat or cold and wet environments.
  • Minimum of four years related experience.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish- Preferred but not required).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Computer proficient (Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Famous).
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of agriculture procedures and positions.
